I built an entire esquire just to try this pickup out. It was worth it. More output, more “grit”, and tons of “bite”.
That budget build is now the perfect workhorse rock machine. These things cut through a mix like a hot knife through butter…. which is fitting for a hot blade pickup….

In the least boring way possible this might be the ideal middle of the pickup spectrum, granting you access to clearer cleans and punchy dirt in one guitar. I’d argue that there’s a little bit of firebird DNA in the sound as well, as to my ear the T90 (like the Firebird) has more clarity and high frequency content than the traditional P90 (which can sometimes be a little muddied and closer to a low output PAF).

Worth it. That guitar is now my rawest rock machine. One angry single coil that cuts through a mix better than any P90 I’ve heard. Way more output than the Fralin Big Singles in my Jaguar yet with more clarity and cut than the Railhammer Hyper Vintage (PAF style) in my Warmoth.
In the least boring way possible, this has to be one of the most versatile “middle of the spectrum” pickups you could fit in a workhorse guitar. slots in that pocket with things like firebird pickups.

It sits together with a tv-jones powertron in the neck. It gives the thinline tele great punch and clarity, still sounds like a tele but more muscle. ‘
