HANDMADE FIREBIRD MINI HUMBUCKERS

AVAILABLE SINGLY OR IN SETS.

NICKEL OR GOLD COVERS

HANDMADE IN OUR WORKSHOPS HERE IN MELBOURNE

THEIR DESIGN IS BASED ON THE ORIGINAL 1963 FIREBIRD PICKUPS USING ALNICO V BLADES AND A SPECIALLY DESIGNED MAGNETIC CIRCUIT TO ACHIEVE THE CLASSIC FIREBIRD TONE.  I HAVE BEEFED THEM UP A LITTLE BUT STILL RETAIN THE CHARACTER OF THE CLASSIC FIREBIRD PUP.

UNFORTUNATELY GIBSON IS NO LONGER MAKING THEIR PICKUPS LIKE THE ORIGINALS, AND ARE WINDING THEM TO 15K AND USING CERAMIC MAGNETS…. NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINALS. (GOOGLE THE GUITAR FORUMS FOR MORE DETAILS).

I HAVE PERSONALLY BEEN USING THESE PUPS IN MY OWN GUITARS AND GIGGED THEM EXTENSIVELY AND AM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THE TONE AND PERFORMANCE FOR CLASSIC ROCK AND BLUES

NECK PICKUP IS NASTY, CHIMEY AND CLEAR WITHOUT BEING TOO BRIGHT, BOTTOM END IS TIGHT

BRIDGE PICKUP HAS A TELE-LIKE VIBE WITH BALLS….KIND OF LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN A TELE PICKUP AND A P-90

SPECS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

HAND MAGNETISED ALNICO 2 OR ALNICO 5 MAGNETS

A few years back I bought a set of 3 for my ’90s Gibson VII which I love but I always just thought sounded too muddy. Watched the demo vid for these and thought it sounded incredible. Took a punt on a set in gold and was blown away. The difference was like night and day. Amazing pickups, super reasonable price, love that they’re made here in Australia!

Gday. Who plugs an electric guitar into an amp to tickle Tiptoe thru tha tulips? Yeah, not this little black duck. I’ve put together a Super Stratfire with a pair of these things sunk into it. Are there words to describe the outcome?… crazed…alien…berserk… apeshit… Nope, words don’t have a chance against a weapon like this thing! From zztop harmonics to Hendrix feedback, and rambling sustain… these things are nastier than your worst enemy. Cop that!

Installed an AII set into my Gibson Firebird VII yesterday. Wow! What a difference they make. The guitar sings – the neck pickup is warm and articulate, the bridge is biting but is not lacking in clarity – even the out of phase middle sounds great! So, so good. Couldn’t recommend them enough.

Very balanced and articulate, great sounding clean and dirty. Outstanding value for money!! Thanks Fab

Bought the humbucker and the firebird set. Told Mr Fabulous my sonic influences and he recommended the alnico type.
Both sets are on another level, I mean, Seymour Duncan level or above. Clean or dirty, split or humbucking, these pickups sound amazing.
Once installed, you honestly won’t recognize your guitar. Highly recommended! Franck (Quebec)
PS: May I add that they look even better than they sound….

  6. Stuart Ramsey

I have just built my own Gibson firebird style guitar as a Baritone. OMG the mini humbuckers with this guitar are a match made in sonic heaven. Very Happy. Thank you. Question i purchased the Nickel instead of gold (Dumb move) can i spray the Nickel with gold without detriment to the sound quality of the pickups?

Now I know why they call him Mr. Fabulous.

These pups are AMAZING. I’ve been chasing the tone of my first good guitar forever, a Gibson ES-325 I got 30 years ago and sold during college to pay the rent. That oddball has Firebird pickups in a hollow-body, so I took a shot at recreating it with an Ibanez hollow-body and these pickups.

I would say I finally achieved that tone I’ve been dreaming of, but the truth is, this is better. I will 110% be back for more. Thanks again, Fabian!
